Germaine J. Navis, 86, of Waupun, died peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2016 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.

Germaine was born October 21, 1929 in the township of Trenton on the family farm, the son of Henry and Gertrude Bossenbroek Navis. On October 25, 1956 Germaine married Carol Vant Hoff at Alto Reformed Church. Following their marriage the couple resided on the family farm where they farmed until 1989. They then moved to Waupun and Germaine was employed by Central Cable for 20 years. Throughout his life, Germaine was an avid sportsman. He bowled, played men’s softball, golfed, and was an avid fan of the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers. A great highlight was attending the sporting events which his grandchildren participated in. Germaine was a supervisor for the town of Trenton for many years, and a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Waupun.

Germaine is survived by his wife, Carol Navis of Waupun; a daughter, Pam (Jeff) Bruins of Waupun; two sons: Kevin (Martha) Navis of Bloomington, MN and Steve (Deb) Navis of Waupun; six grandchildren: Alex (Grace) Bruins, Elizabeth (Craig) Nelson, Tom Bruins, Andy Navis, Matt Navis, and Michielah (Tyler) Loomans; four great-grandchildren: Sutton, Lakynn, Reeve, Wyatt; and a sister, Joan (Norm) Anderson of Carroll, IA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Marcella Vande Berg, Merle Navis, and Trayton Greenfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Germaine was preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Navis; a sister, Thelma Grantman; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Navis and Elaine Greenfield; and brothers-in-law, Norm Grantman and Mike Vande Berg.


Friends and relatives may call on the family on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.


Funeral services for Germaine Navis will be held Friday, April 29, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Reformed Church in Waupun with Rev. Craig Van Hill officiating.


Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in the town of Trenton.

    Dear Kevin and Martha,
    I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. We only crossed paths a couple of times some years ago, but I always remember him as a genuinely nice and caring man. Mary and I will keep you guys in our thoughts and prayers.
