Wyman Vande Zande

Wyman Vande Zande, 88, of Waupun, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at his home.

Wyman was born October 9, 1934 in the town of Alto, the son of Gerrit R. and Allie Mulder Vande Zande. Wyman was a graduate of Brandon High School in 1952. Shortly following high school, Wyman served with the United States Army for two years. On November 12, 1954 he married Frieda DeYoung in Friesland. Following their marriage the couple resided in Waupun most of their married lives. Wyman was employed at Roets Home Dairy in Waupun for 20 years and the Waupun School District for 22 years as a custodian. Wyman was an active member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Waupun where he taught Sunday School and was a deacon and elder of the church. Wyman also served on the board for the Christian Grade School in Waupun.

Wyman is survived by his wife, Frieda Vande Zande; three children: Dr. Galyn (Lori) Vande Zande, Pamela Young, and Kim (Jeff) Hillyer; grandchildren: Eric (Angie), Allison (Alex), Nicole, Miranda, Bradley, Jessica (Brian), Rebecca, Dustin (Stephanie), and Samantha (Colton); great-grandchildren: Bridget, Gerrit, Wayne, Jenna, Ryer, Stetson, Lance, Caleb, Eli, Bre, Lark, and Rory; a sister, Arlene (John) DeJager; and a sister-in-law, Hilda (Don) DeVries.

Wyman was preceded in death by a son, Timothy; a granddaughter, Melanie; two brothers: Roy Vande Zande and Dale Vande Zande; and a sister, Mildred DeVries.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Waupun with Pastor Greg Schuringa officiating. Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
