Wayne “Butch” Bartelt, 78, of Eldorado, WI passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac after a brave battle with leukemia.
Wayne was born May 11, 1946 to Raymond and Dorothy (Weinheimer) Bartelt. He grew up in the Juneau area and graduated from Juneau High School class of 1964. On September 23, 1972 he married Karen Drews and they lived in Waupun for many years until moving to Eldorado. Butch was a truck driver for 42 years starting with Reetz Ready Mix in Horicon, Schneider Transport in Green Bay and finished his career with CPC Logistics at International Paper in Fond du Lac. He saw many different areas of the United States from behind the windshield and took pride in delivering freight safely and on time. Away from driving truck, he loved model railroading, collecting toy trucks and sharing those hobbies with friends. Butch could be found in the garage listening to polka music while tinkering on his John Deere garden tractors or making something better than you could buy it. He was an avid NASCAR fan and attended many races and tractor pulls at local tracks. His infectious laugh could be heard from across the room.
Wayne is survived by his wife Karen; son, Andrew (Lisa); and grandsons: Lucas and Nicholas of De Pere; his sister, Alice Schildt of Horicon; his buddy, Buster; and many friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and in-laws, Raymond and Laurene Drews.
Per Butch’s request, a private family celebration will be held.
Forever in our hearts.
