(1927 - 2011)
Suzanne K. Hutchinson, formerly of Waupun, entered into her eternal rest surrounded by loving family, on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at Zinzendorf Hall in Watertown.
Suzanne was born July 27, 1927, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of John Victor and Beatrice (Gall) Kuivinen.
She attended the University of Michigan (Delta Zeta) for three years, before marrying Donald John Hutchinson, Jr. on July 24, 1948, in Grosse Pointe, Mich. They lived in Grand Rapids, Mich. and the Chicago area, before moving to Waupun in 1959.
Sue was the director of the Waupun Nursery School for many years.
She served in a variety of capacities at the Union-Congregational Church, including being the first woman moderator, singing in the church choir, and serving on state committees. She was also a member of the PTA when her children were in school; Hospital Auxiliary (helping to bring Lifeline to the area and running the gift shop); guardian for Job's Daughters; and a supporter of many worthy causes.
Sue loved life and lived it to the fullest, enjoying golf, (walking the course until she was 77 years old); racing her sailboat on her beloved Green Lake for 45 years; book and bridge clubs; bowling leagues; singing in choral groups; performing in and attending the theater; and traveling all over the world. She was also an avid sports fan, cheering on the Packers, Brewers, Wolverines (Boo! Mom always enjoyed a friendly, in-house rivalry!), Tigers and Badgers.
Suzi was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister and friend, who brought laughter, grace and blessings to all who knew her. She loved entertaining, organizing fun outings and reaching out with a helping hand or note of encouragement whenever needed.
She will be dearly missed by all and remembered for her courage, strength, compassion, humor and faith.
Sue is survived by her three sons, Don (Ruth) of LaCrosse, Bill (Andrea) of Waupun, Chuck (Mary) of Waunakee; her daughter, Holly (Ken) Sina of Watertown; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sister, Karen (Mike) Herman of Kansas City, Mo.; sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Kuivinen of Gloucester Point, Va.; nieces and nephews; and friends.
