Ruth Immel Pluim

Ruth Immel Pluim, 87, of Waupun, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025.

Ruth was born on March 5, 1937, in Eden, WI the daughter of Wilbert and Francis Seuer Immel. Ruth was a remarkable individual, celebrated as a three-time breast cancer survivor, a testament to her resilience and strength throughout her life.

On August 25, 1956, Ruth married Kenneth L. Pluim at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. In her early years she was employed at a shoe factory in Waupun and worked alongside her husband Ken on the farm. She was a homemaker, raising her children and for 30 years worked at the Tom Dooley Orchard. Ruth enjoyed a fulfilling life filled with a variety of passions. Gardening brought her joy, as did the art of canning. She was known for her lively spirit, often engaging in Polka dancing and spending leisurely days fishing by the river. A dedicated homemaker, she also found fulfillment as a member of Pella Lutheran Church in Waupun, where she embraced her faith. Ruth was also a member of Tops.

Ruth is survived by her children: Mike S. (Suzanne) Pluim, Debra J. Bloom, Susie (Mike) Vande Slunt, and Jeff (Rhonda) Pluim; her grandchildren: Sadie (Luke) Huffman, Kendra (Bryan) TerBeest, Chad Pluim, Derek Navis, Jerica (Chris) Landaal, Reid Vande Slunt, and Cassidy (Andy) Helms; her great-grandchildren: Auden, Beckhem, and Dekker Landaal, Brysen, Wyatt, and Jax TerBeest, Addilyn Pluim, and Lucille, Charlotte, and Harrison Huffman; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Pluim; a great-granddaughter, Addysen TerBeest; a son-in-law, Kirk Bloom; her parents, Wilbert and Francis Seuer Immel; and her siblings: Alice (James) Daley, Gladys (John) Schmidt, Lorraine (Harold) Goebel, Robert W. (Donna) Immel, Melvin W. (Nanci) Immel, Lawrence R. (Rita) Immel, and David P. (Gloria) Immel.

Funeral services for Ruth Immel Pluim will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Pella Lutheran Church in Waupun with Pastor David Knuth officiating. Burial will follow at Cattaraugus Cemetery in Waupun. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Sunday at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 3-5 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
