Cambria: Russell Byron Witthun, age 57 died unexpectedly on Friday morning, May 4, 2018 in the Town of Scott, Columbia County. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Cambria Fire Dept. Community Center, with Rev. Kristin Frederich officiating. Relatives and friends may call on the family on Saturday from 10: a.m. until the time of services. Inurnment will follow in the Cambria Cemetery with a luncheon back at the Fire Dept. community center. The Witthun family requests those who are attending to please wear casual attire. Russell was born on Feb. 4, 1961 in Columbus the son of Byron and Phyllis (Oehlert) Witthun. He was a 1979 graduate of Cambria-Friesland High School where he was involved in football, basketball and track. Russell worked as a mechanic and truck driver over the years with Alsum Produce, Bubolz Trucking, Smedema Trucking, John Deere Works and most recently as a driver for Circle S Farms. Russell truly enjoyed riding his motorcycles and was an active member with the Free Wheelers Motorcycle Group for 38 years. In his free time, he was an avid Packer fan and loved to collect toy cars, John Deere Tractors, along with semi tractors and trailers. Russell will be sadly missed and mourned by his children, Brandon Witthun of Columbus, Jordon Witthun (Kelly Brown) of Randolph and Cari Witthun (fiancé, Mike Mathena) of Waterloo; one granddaughter, Zella Mathena; his mother, Phyllis Witthun of Cambria; his siblings, Cindy (Sheldon Sr.) Wardell of Columbus, Cheryl (Elmer) Karl of Cambria, Vickie (Dean) Gorsuch of Cambria, Donna Witthun (John Kampstra) of Cambria; Clifford (Michelle) Witthun of Cambria, Roger (Susan) Witthun of Columbus, Kimberly (Troy) Becker of Pardeeville and June Witthun (Michael Searvogel) of Cambria; the mother of his children, Tracy (Scott) Sadoski of Randolph; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, several other relatives and many dear friends, especially members of the Free Wheelers MC. Russell was preceded in death by his father in 1994 and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Memorials may be directed to the family.
