Roland Westerveld, 90, of Marshfield, WI, formerly of Waupun, WI, died Sunday, March 27, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Roland was born June 11, 1925 in the town of Alto the son of Arnold and Ruth Kastein Westerveld. On October 10, 1952 he married Ethel Rehwinkel at Pella Lutheran Church in Waupun. Prior to their marriage Roland served in the US Army during World War II in the German Occupation. Roland and Ethel resided in Waupun for many years where he was employed as a mechanic with the city of Waupun. While residing in Waupun he was an active member of Trinity Reformed Church where he had served as Elder, Deacon, Bible Class teacher and sang in its Men’s Chorus. In 1992 the couple moved to Marshfield. While living in Marshfield he was an active member at Christ Lutheran Church.
Roland is survived by two sons: Paul (Peggy) Westerveld of Monument, CO and Mark (Mary Jo) Westerveld of DeForest, WI; a granddaughter, Kelsey Westerveld of Denver, CO; a grandson, Spencer Westerveld of LaCrosse, WI; and a sister, Marilyn Westerveld of Waupun.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Westerveld; a daughter, Beth Westerveld; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Friday at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service.
Funeral services for Roland Westerveld will be held Friday, April 1, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun with Rev. Daryn Bahn and Rev. Andrew Wilson officiating. American Legion Post 210 of Waupun will provide military honors.
Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery.
