Robert W. “Bud” Jones, age 94 formerly of Randolph, died early Monday, May 16, 2016 at St. Mary’s Care Center in Madison. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 19 at the First Presbyterian Church in Cambria with Rev. Steve Bowie officiating. Burial will follow in Cambria Cemetery with a luncheon to follow in the church fellowship hall. Relatives and friends may call on the family at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Bud was born in Cambria on Sept. 9, 1921 the son of Daniel and Margaret (Maas) Jones. He was a 1939 graduate of Cambria-Friesland High School. He served his country in the U.S. Air Corp as a pilot. Following his discharge he was employed with the Columbia County Highway Dept. along with his father. Later, Bud purchased into a quarry business, Dan & Wendt in Rio where he kept interest into his 80’s. Bud occasionally hunted pheasant and duck, but truly enjoyed life and what it had to offer him. Bud had a twinkle in his eye until the day he died. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cambria, Cambria American Legion Post 401 and Fort Winnebago Masonic Lodge #33 F. & A.M. Bud will be sadly missed and mourned by his niece, Denise (Dean) Sunderlage of Madison; his nephew, Brian (Jill) Mellum of Eagen, Minn.; a grandniece, Lisa (Jeff) Pomazal of Eau Claire; his grandnephew, Dan (Cindy) Mellum of Coon Rapids, Minn; three great grandnephews and one great grandniece, Brayden Pomazal, Tyler Pomazal, Ryanne Mellum and Blake Mellum; one brother-in-law, Virgil Mellum of Madison; other relatives and many friends. Bud was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty J. Mellum on Aug. 24, 2013.
