Robert “Bob” Van Buren, 81, of Waupun, passed away unexpectedly on November 29, 2024.
Bob was born July 17, 1943, the son of Melvin and Alice Veleker Van Buren. Bob graduated from Brandon High School and then joined the U.S. Army. After serving his country he moved to Florida for a short time and later moved back to Wisconsin. Bob worked at National Rivet in Waupun and then started his career at John Deere in Horicon. He later married his life partner, Bonnie Dunham. They were married for 50+ years and had a son, Ben. Bob enjoyed motorcycling, reading westerns, and movies. He always loved a good nap and coffee with the guys. The Alto Fair was also a yearly event he always looked forward to.
Bob is survived by his wife of 50+ years, Bonnie; his son, Ben (Carleen); his daughter, Melinni Roca; his grandson, Dylan; siblings: Dale (Norma) Van Buren, Marty (Norma) Van Buren, and Karen Beek; sisters-in-laws: Marilynn Van Buren and Vikki Van Buren; sister and brother-in-law, Connie (Terry) Nico; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Alice Van Buren; his in-laws, Glenn and Martha Dunham; his son, Scott; siblings: Bruce Van Buren, Donald Van Buren, and Kendall Van Buren; sisters and brothers-in-law: Carol and Art Lamonska and Donna and Mike Marlowe; and other relatives.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 3-6 p.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun.
