1948-2015
On March 9, 2015 Robert “Bob” Harvey Flier was called home to his heavenly father after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 67 at home surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Bob was born February 24, 1948 in Beaver Dam, the son of Harvey and the late Clara Mae Mulder Flier. Following graduation, Bob worked at Alto Dairy. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army, serving from 1968-1970 with one year in Vietnam. On June 27, 1970 he married Kathleen Kemink. He worked at Waupun Feed and Seed until 1973 when he and Kathy started farming. He enjoyed farming with his boys and grandkids until the present time on the Flier family farm located on Cty Rd AW. Bob was a member of Alto Reformed Church and served as a deacon. He also served on the Farmer’s Elevator board and the Alto Fair board. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.
Bob is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathy; sons: Brad (Monica), Corey (Pam), Chad (Chris), and Brent (Lisa), all within a 2 mile radius of home; nine grandchildren: Brant (and special friend, Bridgette), Meghan, Sydney, Morgan, Ryan, Logan, Jaycy, Casey, and Charlie; his father, Harvey Flier of Waupun; a sister, Betty (Larry) Rens of Brandon; a brother, Richard (Brenda) Flier of Waupun; brothers-in-law: Lowell Prill of Alto and Bruce (Cindy) Henning of Alto; sisters-in-law: Sue Bos of Waupun and Pauline (Steve) Peters of Brandon; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Mae Flier; in-laws, Harold and Therassa Kemink; an infant daughter, an infant granddaughter, Lauren; sisters-in-law, Jan Prill and Norie Henning; and brother-in-law, Cal Bos.
Visitation:
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 3:30-7:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Services:
Funeral services for Bob Flier will be held Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Alto Reformed Church with Rev. Ted Lindman and Rev. Ted Medema officiating.
Burial:
Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery. American Legion Post 210 of Waupun will provide military honors.
