Richard "Dickie" Dommershausen

d. May 8, 2013

(1938 - 2013)
Richard “Dickie” Dommershausen, 75, of Waupun, died Wednesday evening, May 8, 2013 at Tower View Villa in Rosendale where he resided.

Dickie was born February 23, 1938 in Janesville, WI the son of Raymond and Margaret Knight Dommershausen. Dickie was employed as a transportation officer for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections in Waupun for most of his life. He enjoyed his association with The University of Wisconsin and its sport programs, especially men’s and women’s hockey and the Badger Band. His love for hockey was evident as a dedicated volunteer of the Waupun Hockey Association. He would be found watching games, taking pictures, and lending a hand at fundraisers. Dickie helped coach many youth on and off the ice. He purchased tickets for entire teams to attend Wisconsin Badger hockey games. Dickie donated funds that enabled the purchase of new score boards for the community center, and was honored by an award known as “The Dickie Dommershausen Volunteer of the Year” given to members that best exemplify dedication to Waupun Hockey and its community. Dickie took pride in his community. His generosity and love for girl’s softball was evident as he umpired many games and worked at the concession stand, along with playing a mean game of softball himself.

Dickie is survived by three brothers, Robert Dommershausen of Madison, Ronald Dommershausen of Madison, and Thomas Dommershausen (Patricia Wade) of Lebanon, OH; four sisters, Peggy Youngblood of Madison, Mary Hoffman of Gilbert, AZ, JoAnn Dommershausen of Madison, and Donna (Jeff) Bauhs of Cambridge; and a nephew and niece, Ollie and Marquitta of Madison.
