Priscilla Buteyn, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated professional, passed away peacefully at her home on October 8, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Priscilla, the daughter of John and Edith Vander Meer Navis, was born on August 7, 1960 at Waupun Memorial Hospital. Priscilla's academic journey began at Beaver Dam High School, where she graduated in 1979. Her commitment to caring for others led her to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
On April 6, 1985, Priscilla married the love of her life, Dean Buteyn, at Faith Community Church in Beaver Dam. Together, they built a beautiful family in Waupun. Priscilla cherished her roles as a mother, aunt and grandmother. Every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews was a treasure, filled with laughter, stories, and shared experiences.
She spent many years serving at Waupun Memorial Hospital and Beaver Dam Hospice and Home Care. After spending time in the nursing profession, her thirst for knowledge led her to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where she earned her Master’s of Science in Nursing. For the last 20 years, she held the position of Director of Quality and Education at Aurora Health Care in Oshkosh. Her career was not merely a job, it was a vocation that embodied her essence and commitment to bettering the lives of those around her.
While devoted to her profession, family and friends, Priscilla also had a vibrant personality that embraced life and its adventures. She loved traveling, boating, golfing with the ladies, and camping while enjoying campfires alongside her family, often exploring National Parks. Her artistic flair was reflected in her passion for interior decorating. She especially enjoyed Christmas, where her decor brought warmth and joy to relatives and friends. She had a green thumb and delighted in tending to her flowers, finding peace being surrounded by God's creation.
Priscilla is survived by her loving husband, Dean; her two children: Lindsey (Michael) Froechlich and Drew (Katia) Buteyn; and her three grandchildren: Jordan, Emmitt, and Dax Dean Thomas. She also leaves behind her sister, Suzanne (Tim) Shookman; her brother-in-law, Gregory (Vivian) Buteyn; and three sisters-in-law: Marilea Navis, Jill (Dennis) Monroe, and Sue (Steve) Soodsma; along with numerous nieces and nephews who were fortunate enough to know her warmth and kindness.
Priscilla was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Greg Navis.
Funeral services for Priscilla Buteyn will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 12 noon at Edgewood Community Church in Waupun. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in the town of Trenton. Visitation will take place on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
