(1917 - 2014)
After a long and healthy life, Nyla Collien Wild, 96, of Waupun, left peacefully from her residence to be with the Lord on Monday, February 24, 2014 with family and loved ones at her side.
Nyla was born October 18, 1917 in the town of Leroy the daughter of Albert and Lauretta Attenberger Collien. Nyla was a graduate of Oakfield High School, Dodge County Normal of Mayville, and Marian College of Fond du Lac. On July 22, 1944 she married Forrest W. Wild (USMC) at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oakfield. Nyla taught school for 24 ½ years in Dodge and Fond du Lac counties, most of which was at Belle Reynolds School in Oakfield. She also started a school on the island of Trinidad during WWII for the children of the military personnel stationed there. Nyla served her country during WW2 as a Government Inspector on B-29 landing gear after completing training at the A.O. Smith Corp. of Milwaukee. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupun where she was a Sunday School teacher and Superintendant for many years and also a member of Immanuel Seniors. She was a member of Fond du Lac Retired Educators Assoc. and Wisconsin Retired Educators Assoc.
Nyla is survived by her three sons, Forrest E. (Bonnie) of Corona del Mar, CA, Brian J. (Heidi) of Brownsville, TX and Gary R. of Beaver Dam; sister-in-law, Alice Collien of Cumming, GA; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Laurelda Lechner of Mayville, and her brother, Robert Collien of Cumming, GA.
