Norris Damsteegt, age 74, of Waupun, passed away unexpectedly at home on February 10, 2025.
Norris was born on December 12, 1950, to Marvin and Maggie Boerson Damsteegt. A proud native of Waupun, Norris graduated from Waupun High School in 1968. Following his graduation, he took on the responsibility of the family farm, a commitment that defined his life and brought him great fulfillment. Norris devoted himself to agriculture and community, embodying the values of hard work and perseverance.
Norris was deeply involved in his faith, serving with dedication at the Alto Reformed Church in various roles. His commitment to his church family was evident, as he took on leadership positions and contributed generously of his time and talents. A testament to his community involvement was his role as the Board President of the Farmers Elevator. Additionally, Norris was actively engaged with the 4-H organization, particularly in woodworking, fostering skills and interests among the youth. After selling the farm, he went to work at the Flier Farm and loved every day. A huge thank you to the Fliers for taking care of Norris all these years.
Norris is survived by his three brothers: Mylin (Mary Joy) Damsteegt, Eugene (Sharon) Damsteegt, and David (Lori) Damsteegt, along with his brother-in-law, Raymond Freriks; and many nieces and nephews.
Norris was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Maggie; as well as two sisters, Elise Lont and Bonnie Freriks; and an infant sister, Norma. He will be deeply missed, and his memory cherished by family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Alto Reformed Church in the town of Alto with Randy McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery in Waupun. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
