Nancy VandeSlunt

April 21, 1945 — February 24, 2025

Nancy Vande Slunt, age 79, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025.

Nancy was born on April 21, 1945, the daughter of Willis and Mildred Prange Westerveld. Nancy's early achievements foreshadowed a life dedicated to excellence. As the valedictorian of her class at Waupun High School, she secured a full scholarship to the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Madison. Nancy further distinguished herself during her studies, earning the prestigious Miss Methodist Student Nurse Award.

On August 2, 1968, Nancy married Delwin Vande Slunt and together they forged a life filled with love and laughter. As a devoted stay-at-home mom, Nancy poured her heart into raising their four sons. Nancy’s active participation in her church was a significant part of her life. Before her marriage, she was an enthusiastic member of Alto Reformed Church, and she later became a life member of the Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon. Nancy had a love for music and was part of the choir at Bethel Reformed Church. She found joy in Bible studies and was heavily involved in her community, reflecting her unwavering faith and commitment.

In addition to her devotion to family and church, Nancy had a profound love for travel, frequently embarking on two-week vacations across the United States with her loved ones. Her interests also included gardening, raising horses, and tending to her fruit trees, pursuits that brought her great delight and a sense of fulfillment.

Nancy is survived by her four sons: Dallas (fiancee, Carrie Arneson) Vande Slunt, Derek (Tina) Vande Slunt, Nathan (Katie) Vande Slunt, and Noel (Alison) Vande Slunt; seventeen grandchildren: Bailey, Jaxon, Carson (Dallas); Silvia, Micah, Jenna (Derek); Tate (Nathan); Julianna, Rebecca, Thomas, Annabelle, Faithlynn, Gloria, Lucelia, Jobe, Jonathan, and Adoniram (Noel); three sisters: Betty Kemink, Karen (Verlan) Den Adel, and Shirley (Alan) Ver Hage; her brother-in-law Wilfred (Kay) Vande Slunt; and countless nieces and nephews.

She joins in eternal rest her husband, Delwin Vande Slunt; her parents, Willis and Mildred Prange Westerveld; and brother-in-law, Orville “Bud” Kemink. The deep love Nancy had for her family and friends was immeasurable, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.
