Marvin L. Bos, 80, of Waupun, died Friday, August 31, 2012 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.
Marvin was born December 11, 1931 in Douglas County South Dakota the son of Adrian and Minnie Kuening Bos. In 1937 he moved to Wisconsin with his family. On February 6, 1953 he married Lois J. Vande Zande at First Reformed Church in Waupun. Marvin and Lois farmed outside of Waupun all their married lives. Marvin was a charter member and founder of Bethel Christian Reformed Church where he served as deacon and elder. He served on the board at Central Wisconsin Christian School. For 41 years he served on the Chester Town Board, 29 years as its chairman. Marvin was a member of Atwater Conservation Club for many years. He enjoyed many activities with his family.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lois; children, Daniel (Pam) Bos, Julane (Jeff) Homan, Marcene (Randy) Bruins, and Jayne (John) Groenewold; 15 grandchildren, David (Cassie) Kartechner, Michael (fiancée, Janelle Katsma) Kartechner, Brian Kartechner, Nick Kartechner, Jared (Gina) Homan, Jamin (Kara) Homan, Joab Homan, Levi (Megan) Bruins, Lucas (Sarah) Bruins, Thomas (Lindsey) Bruins, Joshua (Laura) Bos, Jenna (Bob) Alsum, Noelle Groenewold, Brenna Groenewold, and Jacob Groenewold; 14 great-grandchildren, Rebecca Kartechner, Henri, Julian, George, and Lars Homan, Blake and Chael Bruins, Claire, Kelsey, and Travis Bos, Jorie, Jake, Sam, and Abby Alsum, and one more expected in 2012; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jeanette Bos, Marvin De Vries, Raymond Lange, and Harvey (Lois) Vande Zande.
Marvin was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynette Kartechner in 2009; brother, John E. Bos; sisters, Caroline De Vries, Flossie Kuiper, and Adrianna Lange; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lauren and Jean Vande Zande, Bill Kuiper, Glenn and Marjorie Vande Zande, and Betty Vande Zande.
Visitation:
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Tuesday at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4-8 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Services:
Funeral services for Marvin Bos will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Waupun with Rev. Jeff Brower officiating.
Burial:
Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun.
