Marilyn Meyer, age 81, of Waupun, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, February 21, 2025.
Marilyn was born on February 5, 1944, in Beaver Dam, WI the second daughter of James and Berdena (Tenpas) Veendaal. She lived in Waupun her whole life, graduating from Waupun High School in 1962. She went on to further her education at Milwaukee County General Hospital School of Nursing, and embarked on a fulfilling career as a registered nurse. For 20 years she dedicated her talents to helping others at the Schrank Clinic and later at Dodge Correctional Institution where she retired in 2006.
On June 26, 1965, Marilyn married her high school sweetheart, John Meyer, at Pella Lutheran in Waupun. They embraced the joys and challenges of life in Waupun, their home for all these years. Marilyn had an immense love for reading, crossword puzzles, sudoku, and puzzles of any kind. Gardening was one of her greatest passions; her nurturing spirit extended to her plants, as she possessed a remarkable ability to bring even the most forlorn plants back to life. Marilyn found joy in cooking and cherished her time spent with good friends, fostering deep connections that enriched her life. She loved to throw parties, especially to celebrate the winter solstice.
Marilyn leaves behind her devoted husband, John Meyer, with whom she shared 59 wonderful years and their two children: Toni (Gregg) Schumacher and Brad (Kelly Cordill) Meyer; two granddaughters: Sorcia (fiance, Vince Platts) Rock and Aiden Rock; her great-grandchild, Emrys Platts; three step-great-grandchildren: Mason, Nora, and Lili; siblings-in-law: Mary and John Nicolai and Anita Meyer; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Hazel Kuntz.
Marilyn wanted it known, “Life was good, and now I am on my way to what I bet will be even better!”
