Margaret Swart, age 95, passed away on January 3, 2025.
Margaret was born on July 19, 1929, in Merrillville, Indiana, the daughter of Klass and Jenny DeJong Meyer. Margaret attended the Fair Oaks School System.. She was united in marriage to Arnold Swart on May 19, 1949, a partnership that would last for over six decades until his passing on April 6, 2015. Together, they began their farming journey in 1965 when they acquired a farm south of Cambria, although they continued to reside in Indiana for many years. In 1979, their sons Joe and Richard embraced the farming lifestyle in rural Cambria. Margaret and Arnold moved to their newly built home on the farm in 1986.
Margaret was a devoted homemaker who skillfully balanced her responsibilities both at home and on the farm. Known for her passion for gardening and canning, she nurtured her family with the bounty of her hard work. Her spirit of service extended beyond her own household, as she was always willing to assist with chores and fieldwork whenever needed.
Margaret is survived by her loving children: Joann (Don) Abbring of De Motte, IN; Richard and Joe Swart of rural Cambria, WI; and Jim (Mary) Swart of Wheatfield, IN; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Ruth Swart of Florida.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold on April 6, 2015; brothers: Joe and John Meyer; sisters: Anna Winger and Jeanette Roorda; half-brothers: Carl and William Meyer; and half-sister, Mary Thiel.
Private family services will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025.
