Margaret Mittelstaedt, age 96, of Waupun, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at the Christian Home in Waupun.
Margaret was born September 24, 1928 in the town of Alto, the daughter of Herman and Allie Bronkhorst Medema. Margaret was employed by Teeple Shoe Factory and Ideal Shoe Factory in Waupun. On August 16, 1950 she married Don Mittelstaedt at Alto Christian Reformed Church in Alto. Following their marriage the couple resided in Brandon for 20 years and then dairy farmed in the Markesan area and later the Beaver Dam area for a total of 25 years prior to retiring and moving to Waupun. Margaret enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, reading, and being with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Alto Christian Reformed Church.
Margaret is survived by her five children: Ron (Ellen) Mittelstaedt of Kiel, WI, Dennis (Mary) Mittelstaedt of Waupun, Sherri (Dick) Slager of Beaver Dam, Stan (Linda) Mittelstaedt of Waupun, and Scott (Janna) Mittelstaedt of Newton, WI; 19 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandchild; a brother, Ted (Julie) Medema; and sisters-in-law: Ramona Medema and Char Mittelstaedt; and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Don; her four brothers: Alvin, John, George and Clayton Medema; and two sisters: Thelma Medema and Helen Aalpoel.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Alto Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Forsell Gappa officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
