Lynda J. (Rennhack) Lagodney, who was “ 39 at heart”, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018 after a short illness at her home in Waupun. She was surrounded by her loving family and pets.
Lynda was born on July 16, the first of 5 girls born to James and Carolyn (Anhauser) Rennhack at South Beaver Dam, WI. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran church, Lowell. She enjoyed her rural childhood in the village of Lowell and graduated from Reeseville /Lowell High School. Lynda went on to study library science at the Universities of Wisconsin in Madison and Whitewater. Education and knowledge was something Lynda valued, she loved learning new things for her entire life. While attending UW, Lynda met her husband, Joseph Lagodney, they married on May 28, 1981, in Madison, WI. Joe and Lynda welcomed 2 sons to their family, Patrick and Brian. Shortly after the birth of their sons, the family moved to Waupun, WI. She was a caring and understanding mother as well as a devoted wife. Home is where she loved to be. She loved all animals and nurtured many pets over the years. She cared for her dogs, chickens, cats, lizards, and birds all the same, with a gentle touch and great love. Lynda will be remembered by many as an original and creative soul. She expressed this creativity through many kinds of needle work, especially knitting, embroidery, and spinning. Lynda shared her rich talents with others by teaching fiber arts at venues across the state and Midwest. She had a style all her own, her lace shawls, knitted toys, and ornaments are cherished by many. Reading and books were more of Lynda’s passions. She worked at the Waupun Public Library. Lynda read voraciously, all genres, especially enjoying “cozy” mysteries. She loved a good game of Scrabble and in recent years, made time to watch Jeopardy every day with her husband, Joe. She had a quick wit and a keen sense of humor. Lynda was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church of Waupun, the Madison Knitters Guild, Waupun Craft Center and a founding member of the String a Long Fiber Guild. Every December she participated in the Host of Angels Christmas sale in Waupun. Lynda leaves a legacy of love and creativity to all who knew her.
Lynda is survived by her husband, Joe, son, Patrick, her mother, Carolyn Rennhack, her sisters, Ann Barszcz, Jeanne (Charlie) Neis, Katie (Ken) Roth, and extended family. Many friends mourn her passing, including special friends in the fiber arts community.
