Lowell Glewen, 88, of Alto, passed away peacefully and went to his heavenly home on December 14, 2024.
Lowell was born July 18, 1936 in Fond du Lac County, the son of Elmer and Grace Overzet Glewen. Lowell attended Burbank Elementary School on Amity Road and went on to Brandon High School. He then enlisted with the Wisconsin Army National Guard where he had one year of active duty at Fort Lewis, Washington during the Berlin Crisis. Lowell worked with his father part-time on the family farm and also drove cattle trucks for a short time. Lowell was then employed by Navis Trucking of which he retired after 40 years. Lowell was an active hunter of which he enjoyed fox, deer, and pheasant hunting and in the summer months he fished. Lowell was a life-long member of Alto Reformed Church.
Lowell is survived by a special friend, Ann Boerson; his brother, Arlyn (Lois) Glewen of Grand Rapids, MI; a sister, Shirley Bublitz of Ripon; sister-in-law, Betty Hertaus; nieces: Nancy Donham, Julie Culbertson, Lori Curatola, Christina Glewen, and Marissa Glewen; and nephews: Philip Glewen and Joel Glewen.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Grace Glewen.
A special thanks to Chris, Sue, Rene, and Lori at Barrett House in Ripon for their wonderful care. Also a huge thank you to Jerry Medema at Alto Reformed church for the grateful service given to Lowell. A special thank you to Arlyn, Lowell's brother, who lovingly cared for and regularly checked in on Lowell over the years.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Alto Reformed Church. Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. American Legion Post 210 of Waupun will be providing military honors.
