Lambert De Jager, 89, of Waupun, went to heaven on July 3, 2024.
Lambert was born in 1935, in Oostrum, Netherlands the son of Fred and Jennie De Jager. As a young boy, his family survived WW2 in the Netherlands. In 1947 his family traveled by boat to America. They lived in the state of Washington for two years prior to moving to Wisconsin. He was proud of his Dutch/Frisian heritage and visited the Netherlands as an adult with his siblings.
He was married to Bessie (Douma) De Jager in East Friesland, WI. They celebrated 67 years together. Lambert and Bessie enjoyed visiting friends and family, and playing their favorite card game of Rook.
He was a faithful member at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Waupun. Lambert farmed for many years in the Alto and Waupun areas. After retiring from farming, he worked for Redeker Dairy and then spent 20 years as a truck driver, delivering milk around the state for Wiese Trucking.
Lambert is survived by three daughters: Vivian Josephson, Evonne (Mike) Ganz, and Vickie De Jager; two sons Tony (Theresa) De Jager and Robert (Linda) De Jager; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother and sisters John (Arlene) De Jager, Etta Schregardus, Gertrude Mulder, and brother-in-laws and sisters-in-laws Dorothy De Jager, Andrew (Tessie) Douma, Harvey Douma; Shirley Douma; and many nieces and nephews.
Lambert was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie (Douma) De Jager, three brothers, Dirk DeJager, Eldon De Jager, Frank De Jager; his parents and two infant sisters, Jitske and Aneke.
Our family would like to thank the staff at Marvin’s Manor, Christian Home, and hospice for the loving care they provided to our dad and mom.
Relatives and friends may attend visitation at Werner Harmsen Funeral Home, 210 Jefferson St, Waupun on July 9, 5:30-8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held on July 10, 11:00 am at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 410 S West St, Waupun with visitation prior to the service at 10:00 am. Burial will take place after the service at Alto Cemetery followed by lunch at Bethel Church.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Lambert’s name to Bethel Christian Reformed Church.
