Kenneth Pluim

Kenneth Pluim, 84, of Waupun, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. 

Ken was born May 31, 1938 to Wilbert and Jennie Van Buren Pluim. On August 25, 1956 he married the love of his life Ruth Immel in Fond du Lac. The couple farmed in Waupun until the 90’s. Ken was a very dedicated farmer. He then worked at Tom Dooley’s doing a variety of things and also worked at DJ’s. He was always there to help his children when they needed it. Ken really loved his tractors, the Packers, polka music, family time back by the river, and especially time with his family. He loved his ‘58 Buick. He enjoyed being part of Waupun Drift Jumpers. Ken was a member of Pella Lutheran Church in Waupun. Ken was the rock of our family. He will be deeply missed. He was a great dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Ken is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruth; his children: Mike (Suzanne) Pluim, Debra Navis (Kirk Bloom), Susie (Mike) Vande Slunt, and Jeff (Rhonda) Pluim; 7 grandchildren: Sadie (Luke) Huffman, Kendra (Bryan) TerBeest, Chad Pluim, Jerica (Chris) Landaal, Derek Navis (Brittany) Killam), Reid Vande Slunt, and Cassidy (Andy) Helms; 10 great-grandchildren: Lucy, Charlotte, Harrison, Brysen, Wyatt, Jax, Addilyn, Auden, Beckhem, and Dekker; brothers and sisters: Calvin (Jeanne) Pluim, Ruth (Jim) DeVries, Gloria (Wayne) Schwarze, Jerry (Cheryl) Pluim, and Rose (Mitch) Redeker; many nieces, nephews and cousins; brothers-in-law: Bud Guenther and Arnie Voskuil; and sister-in-law, Joan Pluim. 

Ken was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Addysen TerBeest; 3 sisters: Sharon (Glen) Loomans, Carol Voskuil, and Joyce Guenther; a brother, Larry Pluim; and nephew, Scott Pluim. 

A huge thank you to Lifestar, EMS staff, Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s department, and the City of Waupun police officers for all their help. 

Funeral services for Kenny Pluim will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Pella Lutheran Church in Waupun with Pastor David Knuth officiating. Burial will follow at Cattaraugus Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Wednesday at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4-7 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
