John E. Vander Sanden

John E. Vander Sanden, 78, of Waupun, passed away peacefully January 1, 2018 with family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

John was born January 27, 1939 at the Fond du Lac Hospital, the son of Dick and Harriet Kemink Vander Sanden. John attended a one room schoolhouse for grade school and graduated from Brandon High School in 1957. On September 4, 1965 he married the love of his life, Marilyn Vossekuil in Waupun. Together they had two children, Tammy of Beaver Dam and Rick of Middleton. John retired from Gleason Reel in 2004. He served in the Army and spent three years in Germany. Most importantly, John loved the Packers. He attended as many home games as he could thanks to the Madison Packer Backers and had his truck decked out in Green and Gold.

John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marilyn; a daughter, Tammy (Barry) Kasuboski of Beaver Dam; a son, Rick (Kathy) Vander Sanden of Middleton; grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Bryce, Haylee, Lauren, Abbey, Madilyn, and Chloe; and his beloved dog, Jessie.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Harriet Vander Sanden; his father and mother-in-law, John and Clara Vossekuil; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.



Friends and relatives may call on the family on Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service.



A celebration of John’s life will take place on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Waupun United Methodist Church with Rev. Debra Hastings officiating.



Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun with American Legion Post 210 providing military rites.



The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Agnesian Cancer Center, Waupun Memorial Hospital, and Hillside Home Care and Hospice for all their loving care and support during this past year. Memorials may be directed to either Hillside Home Care and Hospice or the United Methodist Church in Waupun.
