John Charles Link, 83, Cambria, WI passed away at Randolph Health Services on June 22, 2018 from complications of cancer, surrounded by his family. John was born September 9, 1934 at home in Springvale Township, son of Leo and Nora Mae (Katzenberger) Link. He graduated from Cambria High School in 1952 and was a dedicated farmer working with his dad. John was united in marriage to Avis Lambrecht on July 20, 1957. December 1957 he was drafted into the U.S. Army for two years and returned to the farm. He enjoyed playing baseball (Whiz Kids), softball, and basketball. John was a supervisor on the Springvale Town Board for several years, director on the Columbus Rural Electric Board, director on the FSA Board and a fire warden for over 40 years. He was a member of the Pardeeville Curling Club, the Portage Boat Club and enjoyed league bowling at Rio Lanes. He was a lifetime member of the Cambria Moonlighters Snowmobile Club and enjoyed rides this past winter. He was creative with making metal flowers and creatures. He was also a toy tractor collector and had several antique tractors. He truly enjoyed the long tractor rides to Green Bay and the local tractor rides around the area. The grandchildren were his great joy and he had immense pride in attending their activities. Farming with his two sons was his passion, working the fields and livestock. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Nora Mae Link. John is survived by his wife, Avis, 60+ years and two sons Randal, Scott (Kimberly), four grandchildren Jason (Angie), Jamie (Elora), Jessica (Nathan) Webber, John W. Link, seven great grandchildren, two sisters Shirley (Ed) Christian, Bernice (Luke) Elgersma, nieces, nephews and friends. We wish to thank Randolph Health Services and Southern Care for the wonderful care of John and his family. Funeral services for John will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Cambria Fire Dept. Community Center. Committal services will follow in Cambria Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Cambria American Legion Post #401. Relatives and friends may call on the family on Friday evening from 4-8 p.m. at the community center and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
