Joan Westhuis

Joan Westhuis, 76, of Fond du Lac, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023 with family by her side. 

Joan was born October 3, 1946 to Wesley and Jean (Lemmenes) Westhuis in Waupun. She attended and graduated from Waupun High School and then later went to Hope College in Holland, MI where she graduated with a degree in Religion. After graduation, she worked for Federated Church as a Christian Ed Director and drove school bus for a number of years. Eventually she worked for Taychedah and Fox Lake Correctional as an officer for 18 years. Her biggest passion was her grandchildren, always sharing stories about them to everyone. Joan was a member of The Federated Church of Green Lake. Her passion was serving others. 

Joan is survived by her two sons: Ben Nummerdor and Shaun Nummerdor; 5 grandchildren: Gregory, Andrew, Reagan, Owen, and Caleb; siblings: Ross Westhuis, David (Patrica) Westhuis, Beth Westhuis, and Phil (Sharon) Westhuis; as well as many nieces and nephews.  

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; and brother Bruce. 

Funeral services for Joan Westhuis will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Federated Church in Green Lake with Pastor Karen Gygax Rodriguez officiating. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
