Jerry Smits, 72, of Waupun, died Monday, February 11, 2013 at Waupun Memorial Hospital.
Jerry was born May 8, 1940, the son of Doyle and Dorothy Van Loo Smits. On June 28, 1968 he married Lois Holstein at First Reformed Church in Waupun. Jerry worked for most of his life at National Rivet in Waupun, and retired in 2005. He served his country in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Panama. Jerry loved his tractors and having coffee at Golden Cup Café.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Lois of Waupun; his children, Lynnae (Mitch) Shaw of Fox Lake, and Jason (Justina) Smits of Waupun; his grandchildren, Jordon Shaw, Kodi Whitt, Mason Shaw, Kadion Shaw, Kiarra Smits, Jason Smits II, and Dawson Shaw; a sister, Karen (Floyd) Brandenburg; and nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation:
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Wednesday at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4-7 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Services:
Funeral services for Jerry Smits will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at First Reformed Church in Waupun with Rev. Bob James officiating.
Burial:
Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in the town of Trenton.
