Jean Smith

June 17, 1929 — January 11, 2025

Jean passed away peacefully early Saturday morning on January 11, 2025 at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living located in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. 

She was born June 17, 1929 to Howard E. Robinson and Eunice Laura (Bogie) Robinson in the township of Lindina. 

She grew up on their family farm where she enjoyed working outside with her Dad. She learned to take care of farm chores, work with horses and their registered Guernsey cows. She showed the Guernseys as one of her 4-H projects. She was a member of the Lindina Busy Bees 4-H club and later a leader for many years.

After high school graduation she continued her education at the college in Mauston. She worked as a bookkeeper and did office work. She met her future husband Donald L. Yapp at Wisconsin Power and Light where they both worked. They were married in January 1955.

She was a bank teller at the Bank of Mauston for many years. Later she worked as a LPN for Home Health. She remarried a high school acquaintance Lloyd G. Smith in November 1996.

She was always active. She was good with numbers, enjoyed history, word puzzles, gardening, reading, embroidery, sewing and crocheting. She belonged to a bowling league, Oddfellows and Rebekahs, Lindina Homemakers club, United Methodist Church and Circle, and Juneau County 4-H.

She is survived by 4 children: Josephine M. Sailor, Jonathan H. (Terry) Yapp, Roberta J. Wischow, Eileen K. Voss, 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Donald L. Yapp in 1992 and Lloyd G. Smith in 2015, her parents Howard and Eunice Robinson, her sister Laura Mae Serrurier and former brother-in-law Robert, her brother Donald Robinson and sister-in-law Anna Mae, her son-in-laws Larry S. Sailor and Gordon A. Wischow.

Inurnment will be at Rock Valley Cemetery in Lindina Township. Celebration of life to be announced.
