Janice “Jan” O’Donovan, 77, of Waupun, died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Waupun Memorial Hospital following a courageous battle with her health.
Jan was born October 15, 1938 In Oak Grove, WI the daughter of Clarence and Edna Gentz Justman. Jan attended schools in Juneau and graduated from Dodgeland High School in 1956. She was formerly married to the late John O’Donovan, Jr. Jan worked for Dr. Ferguson in Juneau, raised her family, was a preschool teacher at the Methodist Church in Waupun, worked at Bentley Electric and at Waupun Memorial Hospital as a receptionist and in admitting, and later at Pella Lutheran Church with the children’s program “In His Hands”. Jan was a member of Pella Lutheran Church where she enjoyed singing and was a very active member, serving in various capacities.
Jan is survived by three children: Brian (Lorna Mae) O’Donovan of Waupun, Rebecca “Becky” Slivinski of River Hills, WI, and John (Linda Alsum-O’Donovan) O’Donovan of Oakfield; a grandchild, Taylor Slivinski of River Hills, WI; two sisters: Justine (Gordon) Port of Waupun and Ruth Jane (William) Wagner of Oshkosh; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Joan Murphy; and a daughter-in-law, Karen O’Donovan.
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Friday at
Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home
in Waupun from 4-7 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Funeral services for Jan O’Donovan will be held Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at
Pella Lutheran Church
in Waupun with Rev. David Knuth officiating.
Burial will follow at
Alto Cemetery
