Janet Kok

Janet Kok, 94, of Waupun, died peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the Christian Home and Rehabilitation Center in Waupun.

Janet was born on August 22, 1923 in the town of Waupun, the daughter of Henry and Hazel Looman Flier. She married Harold Kok in Alto while he was home on leave after serving in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific following WWII. The couple then started farming in Waupun, Markesan, and Brandon, and after 25 years settled in Brandon, WI. Janet worked as a nurse’s aide at the Christian Home. Janet and Harold were members of Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon where the couple served as custodians for over 15 years. Janet was active in the RCWM and the Senior Bible Study group. With Janet’s love of music she accompanied many choir groups and was a familiar face when playing piano at area churches and care facilities. Janet was loved by everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. Her amazingly positive outlook on life was a testament of her unwavering faith in God. Janet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was always kind, always sweet, and always smiling. Her memory will be cherished and she will be dearly missed.

Janet is survived by five sons: Duane (Sally) Kok of Brandon, Glendon (Roz) Kok of Phoenix, AZ, Jerry (Deb) Kok of Waupun, Dennis (Jackie) Kok of Brandon, and Douglas Kok of Brandon; five daughters: Diane (Lee) Fenendael of Ripon, Linda (Charles) Hardesty of Brandon, Kathy (Dean) Dornfeld of Fairwater, Valerie (Ken) Bille of Waupun, and Renee (Ron) Theyerl of Brandon; 33 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harvey Flier; two sisters-in-law; LaVerne Kok and Edith Smit; and many nieces and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband in 2002; a granddaughter; two brothers; six brothers-in-law; and eight sisters-in-law.



Friends and relatives may call on the family on Wednesday at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4-7 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.



Funeral services for Janet Kok will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon with Pastor John Tilstra and grandsons, Pastor Stuart Dornfeld and Pastor Dan Dornfeld officiating.



Burial will follow at Oakmound Cemetery in Alto.
