1937-2015
James “Jim” Posthuma, 78, of Waupun, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015 at his home.
Jim was born May 31, 1937 in rural Randolph the son of John and Clara Hoffman Posthuma. On December 16, 1960 he married Betty Schouten at First Reformed Church in Waupun. Following their marriage the couple resided in rural Fox Lake where he raised hogs and also worked at Waupun Ready Mix/Carew Concrete. In October of 1991 the couple left the farm and moved to Waupun. Jim was a member of First Reformed Church. Jim and Betty enjoyed good times going on various bus tours. Jim was a hard working man who enjoyed what he did for a living. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Jim is survived by his wife, Betty Posthuma of Waupun; three daughters: Marcia DeBoer of Waupun, Mary (Mark) Walvort of Waupun, and Bonnie (Ken) Helt of Waunakee; eight grandchildren: Daniel (Michelle), Joshua (Melissa), Tom, and Diana Donovan, Tyler and Devin Walvort, and Jonathan and Cole Helt; five great-grandchildren: Austin, Jadyn, Danielle, Chelsea, and Jaxson; three sisters: Jeanette Tjepkema of Waupun, Sylvia (Clinton) Smith of Waupun, and Claraine (Ronald) Buteyn of Waupun; two brothers-in-law: Orlin Fietz and Dave Schouten; three sisters-in-law: Theresa Posthuma, Jane Posthuma, and Alice Posthuma; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, Cavin Donovan; son-in-law, Doug DeBoer; five brothers: Eli Posthuma, Jake Posthuma, Carl Posthuma, Clarence “Cliff” Posthuma, and Alvin Posthuma; two sisters: Agnes Schmidt and Grace Fietz; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Lucille Schouten.
Visitation:
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Monday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Services:
Funeral services for James Posthuma will be held Monday, June 8, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at First Reformed Church in Waupun with Rev. Jonah Barnes officiating.
Burial:
Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun.
