James George Petersen, affectionately known as "Pete", was born on January 21, 1933, in Chicago, IL, to loving parents Chris and Olga Brookhaus Petersen. He passed away on August 3, 2024, at the Christian Homestead in Waupun.

James led a remarkable life filled with diverse experiences and meaningful connections. He attended Oshkosh High School and later pursued his passion for baseball. James was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds and dedicated himself to the sport until 1957. Despite various career paths, he found fulfillment as the Recreational Director for the Fox Lake Correctional Institution. Additionally, Jim proudly served two years in the U.S. Army where he played basketball at Fort Bragg.

Outside of his professional endeavors, James was deeply involved in his community. He cherished his time in Waupun Little League and the Waupun Legion and played a pivotal role in establishing Post 210 Legion Baseball in Waupun.

In his leisure time, James enjoyed hunting, fishing, music, and was known for his love of buying cars, always managing to strike a great deal. His vibrant spirit and zest for life endeared him to many. 

James is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Wanda; their three children: James (Carla) Petersen, Chris (Jerold) Krueger, and Michael (Janine) Petersen; as well as five grandchildren: Eric (Jennifer) Krueger, Nathan (Jennifer) Petersen, Steven (Danyel) Krueger, Maegan (Kory) Dickerson, and Raina (Matthew) Elissa; and ten great-grandchildren: Hailey, Kiara, Claire, Kayl, Jacy, Jacob, William, Audrey, Mykela, and Kori. James also leaves behind many friends and two nieces who will carry forward his memory with fondness. James was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Olga Petersen; daughter, Lynn Marie; and sister, Grace Felton.

The legacy of James George Petersen is one of resilience, passion for community involvement, and a profound love for God and his family. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered for his unwavering dedication to those he held dear. 

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
