James Bernard Longfield

June 17, 1936 — April 4, 2021

Madison/Cambria: James Bernard Longfield, age 84, died peacefully on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at the Columbia Co. Health Care Center in Wyoncena. James was born in Madison the son of Leo Edwin and Ruth Amelia (Genske) Longfield. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1959. James was united in marriage to Beth Eileen Davis on Nov. 27, 1959 in Madison. He was employed with Eagle Foods (formerly the Piggly Wiggly) for many years. He retired from the store on Troy Dr. in Madison as a store manager. James loved socializing at the local watering hole with his friends where he enjoyed playing darts and horse shoes or engage in a good debate. He loved to be out doors working in his vegetable garden, feeding the wild animals or just sitting to people watch. Many will remember James for his big heart and how he helped out others in their time of need. James will be sadly missed and mourned by his children, Toni (Karl) Westphal of Lodi and Jon (Dawn) Longfield of Beaver Dam; his 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. James was preceded in death by his wife Beth in 2006, and his two brothers, John and Larry Longfield. A family inurnment will take place at a later date in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI. The Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home in Cambria is serving the family.
