Jack Zantow passed away at home in Cambria, Wisconsin on January 21, 2025 at age 79. He was born Peter George Zantow on October 5th, 1945, the first born son of the late Dr Forrest Earle Zantow and Florence Goodearle Zantow. Followed by siblings Richard (Dick), Margaret(Peg) Bredeson, William(Will), Thomas(Thom), and John.HJack had struggled with numerous health issues since before he received a liver transplant in 2008, through the UW Transplant Clinic in Madison, WI. We were blessed with 15 years after his new liver. He thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the extra time he was given to be with his family. He was an artist, designer and fine craftsman. He was a master of his craft. He received his Bachelors of Art degree from UW Whitewater in 1975. He met the love of his life on Groundhog's day in 1971 at UWGB at the old Warehouse art department in Green Bay. Leslie (Sharon) Meyer became his wife in late June of 1971.
Following graduation from Oconto High School in 1963 and a semester at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Mannheim, West Germany, being honorably discharged in 1967. He spent 2 years after discharge in Germany. He brought home with him numerous tails of adventure, including exploring the underground tunnels which had been used during World War ll for manufacture.
He was a genuine man, deeply committed to his ideals and yet a kind, loving person who enjoyed talking with all who came to visit. He had a passion for vintage Volkswagens and BMW's. He loved history, the Green Bay Packers, his Samoyed dogs, brewing beer and playing cribbage with his family. He had an incredible "ear" for music. He loved harmony. He purchased a Gibson 12 string guitar in Germany and loved its distinct sound.
Surviving him are his wife, Leslie, two brothers, Will and John(Leigh), his sister Peg, his two sons, Mason and Justin, his grandchildren Idris, Nuri, Bella, Sophie and Ezaria.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in June.
