Irvan H. Possin

Irvan H. Possin, 95, of rural Waupun was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, June 1, 2017 surrounded by his family at his home and homestead where he was born.

Irvan was born June 30, 1921, in the town of Chester, the son of Walter and Elsie Hoppe Possin. He graduated from Waupun High School and thereafter attended an agricultural short course at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. On February 16, 1945, he married the love of his life, Lucille M. McRobert, in Waupun. Following their marriage, they spent their life together raising their family and farming the family farm south of Waupun all of their married life. Farming was his passion and purpose. He spent his life building the farm, cultivating the land, and above all, tending to the care of his family. Irvan believed that life is what you make of it. For many years, Irv and Lou enjoyed their cottage on Silver Lake by Wautoma where many family and holiday celebrations were shared as well as many good times with dear friends and relatives. He enjoyed hunting on his land and fishing trips. His faith, warmth, work ethic, wisdom, and humor earned him the respect of his family and friends. He is remembered by his community and church family in many ways including his service at Immanuel Lutheran Church of North Burnett, board positions at United Cooperative, supervisor positions for the Town of Chester, and a member of the Atwater Conservation Club.

Irvan is survived by his five children: Susan Roeder of Beaver Dam, Irvan R. (Sarah) Possin of Fond du Lac, Charles (Michelle) Possin of Madison, Kathleen (Jeffry) Duchac of Waupun, and Jacquelyn (Ronald) Albert of Berlin; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Tim Sanders and Louie Pautsch; and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Lucille; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Gertrude (Possin) and William Minnerly and Mildred (Possin) and Bert Kloosterboer; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Donald and Gladys (McRobert) Crain; cousins; and a nephew.




Friends and relatives may call on the family on Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.



Funeral services for Irvan H. Possin will be held Monday, June 5, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in North Burnett with Rev. Tim Sallach officiating.



Burial will follow at North Burnett Cemetery in the town of Burnett.
