Irene Ruby Baker

Irene Ruby Baker, age 101 of rural Cambria, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, February 13, 2021. Irene was born on the family homestead in the town of Scott on June 15, 1919 the daughter of Edward and Millie (Schepp) Hermann. On March 28, 1940, Irene was united in marriage to Floyd Robert Baker. Irene was a hard working woman who raised a family, worked alongside her husband on the farm and was seasonally employed with the local canning company for many years. Her family will always remember her for the large meals she prepared for them and her baked goods. Irene will be sadly missed and mourned by her grandchildren, Lois (Brian) Schepp of Pardeeville, Warren (Karen) Schmidt of Fall River and Linda (Chris) Lindert of Rio; her 10 great grandchildren, Halley (Kyle Koelsch), Lauren Ramirez and Eric Schepp (fiancé, Taylor Hayes), Tina Schmidt, Christy Schmidt and Megan Schmidt, Tyler (Kayla) Lindert, Caitlin Lindert, Ryan Lindert (fiancé, Tori Fay) and Derek Lindert; her great grandchildren; several other relatives and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Floyd; her daughter and son-in-law, Angie (Bruce) Schmidt; her granddaughter, Joy Schmidt; her two brothers, Lorin (Marvel) and Herbert Hermann. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Heartland Hospice for their loving care and also to Christy Schmidt, who was able to make Irene spend her last days in her home with family. The funeral service for family and close friends will be held on Wednesday, Feb.17 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Doylestown with Rev. Tim H. Gumm officiating. Burial will follow in the Cambria Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on the family on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
