Howard Emmanuel Dornfeld, 89, of Markesan, met his Lord and Savior on September 6, 2012. He lived at Markesan Resident Home for the past 5 years.
Howard was born August 21, 1923 in Salemville, WI the son of Christian and Caroline (Bender) Dornfeld. On July 9, 1950 he married the love of his life, Vera Steinich. They farmed together in Salemville. He was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Salemville and over the years served in a number of ways. Howard had a passion for hunting, fishing, and telling stories. He could talk with anyone and left a lasting impression with everyone he met. His main priority in life was other people, especially his wife and family.
Howard is survived by his son, Dean (Kathy) Dornfeld; grandchildren, Dan (Leigh) Dornfeld, Stuart (Megan) Dornfeld and Kristin (Shane) Otto; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Elizabeth, and Lukas Dornfeld, Ashlyn and Shay Otto, and Svea and Kieran Dornfeld; a sister, Berdell (Rodney) Douma of San Angelo, TX; a sister-in-law, Anita Steinich of Cambria; and many beloved nephews, nieces, and dear friends.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Vera; and brothers, Hubert and Herbert Dornfeld.
Visitation:
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Monday at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4-7 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Services:
Funeral services for Howard Emmanuel Dornfeld will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Salemville, WI, located in the township of Manchester, with Pastor Edward Frey officiating.
Burial:
Burial will follow at Salemville Cemetery.
