Hazel M. Rahn, 84, of the town of Waupun, died Friday, August 29, 2014 at her home.
Hazel was born February 28, 1930 on a farm on the Mackford Prairie in Green Lake County the daughter of John and Agnes Merrill Pattee. In 1948 Hazel graduated from Waupun High School and continued her education at Dodge County Normal School in Mayville where she received her teaching degree. Hazel taught in Randolph at Prairie View School. On May 31, 1952 she married LeRoy Rahn in Waupun. Following their marriage they farmed near Randolph for five years and then moved near Waupun where they farmed for 12 years. Hazel and LeRoy were partners in Denzin and Rahn Manufacturing which later became DERCO Manufacturing, located in the town of Waupun. In 1977 Hazel was selected as Waupun Area Chamber of Commerce “Mother of the Year.” Hazel was an active member of Union-Congregational Church in Waupun where she served on various committees.
Hazel is survived by five daughters: Marie Rahn of Pardeeville, Diane (Steve) Harmsen of King George, VA, Nancy (Martin) Vander Velde and their children, Stuart and Sydney of Wauwatosa, Jean Kok and her son, Michael (Shannon) Kok of Reeseville, Lila (John) Buytendorp and their children, Jack, Ben, and Katelin of Fond du Lac; a sister, Laura (Milton) Seibel of Dotyville; a brother, Drew (Verabelle) Pattee of Fond du Lac; along with nieces and nephews.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy in 2007.
Visitation:
Friends and relatives of Hazel Rahn may call on the family on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Services:
Funeral services for Hazel Rahn will be held Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Union-Congregational Church in Waupun with Rev. Jack Kraaz officiating.
Burial:
Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun.
