Harvey Kok, 84, of Brandon, died Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.
Harvey was born July 23, 1928 in Friesland, WI the son of Dick and Eike Beukema Kok. On March 29, 1950 he married Marion Schouten in Waupun. Following their marriage the couple resided in the Waupun area all their married lives. Marion died on June 28, 1994. On April 19, 1997 he married LaVerne Wellhouse in Brandon. Following their marriage the couple resided in Brandon. Throughout his working career, Harvey was employed as a farmer, at a feed mill, and was co-owner of Kok Brothers Spraying for 29 years. He drove truck for four years for ASA Transport and worked for Ron Rosatti, helping out on the farm. Harvey was a member of Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon and previously was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Waupun where he taught Sunday school for 18 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in Japan towards the end of WWII. He was a member of American Legion Post 210 in Waupun.
Harvey is survived by his wife, LaVerne Kok of Brandon; a daughter, Barbara Rosenthal of Oshkosh; a son, Dick (Kris) Kok of Waupun; three step-daughters, Ann (Dan) Kastein of Brandon, Wanda (Calvin) Tjepkema of Waupun, and Beverly (Donald) Sampson of Des Plaines, IL; a sister, Edith Smit of Brandon; 10 grandchildren; four great-granchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
Harvey was preceded in death by his first wife, Marion Kok; three brothers, Ted, Harold, and Charles Kok; and two sisters Catherine Glewen and Martha Hopp.
Visitation:
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and Saturday at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service.
Services:
Funeral services for Harvey Kok will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon with Rev. Derek Vande Slunt officiating.
American Legion Post 210 will provide military rites.
Burial:
Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery in Alto.
