Harriet Streekstra, 90, of Waupun, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014 in Randolph.
Harriet was born March 28, 1924 in Alto, the daughter of George and Jennie Riel Pater. In 1943 she married Theodore “Ted” Streekstra in Alto, and the couple lived in the Waupun/Alto area all their married lives. After raising her children she first worked at The Christian Home in Waupun and then Sand Knit in Waupun, and retired before Ted died in 1995. The couple enjoyed camping and traveling with family and friends. Harriet and Ted looked forward to attending their grandchildren’s sporting events. Harriet enjoyed going to the Beaver Dam Raceway to watch the races.
Harriet is survived by five children: Gary (Janice) Streekstra of Waupun, Linda (Blake) Tonn of Beaver Dam, Byron (Terri) Streekstra of Waupun, Mark (Robyn) Streekstra of Waupun, and Wayne (Jill) Streekstra of Sun Prairie; a daughter-in-law, Sue Streekstra of Waupun; a step-sister, Betty Oonk of Cedar Grove, WI; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; a son, Calvin “Cal” Streekstra in 2010; and five sisters.
Visitation:
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Sunday at the funeral home from 5-7:30 p.m. and on Monday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Services:
Funeral services for Harriet Streekstra will be held Monday, July 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun with Rev. Robert James officiating.
Burial:
Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery.
