1927-2015
Gordon Duer, 88, of Waupun, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living in Waupun with the comfort of his family at his side.
Gordon was born March 23, 1927 in Fond du Lac County the son of Rozell and Marjorie French Duer. He enlisted in the US Navy where he served for five years and four months. On May 20, 1949 he married Gladys Beekman at the Waupun City Hall. Following their marriage the couple resided near Oakfield where they farmed until 1981, at which time they moved to Waupun. Gordon was employed by National Rivet as a machinist. Gordon was an active member of American Legion Post #210 of Waupun. He was also a member of First Reformed Church in Waupun.
Gordon is survived by five children: Carol Duer (Maureen “Teetoo” Buteyn) of Beaver Dam, Gordon (Janeen) Duer Jr. of Groton, CT, Michael (Susan) Duer of Leroy, Valerie Duer (Harold “Bud” Guenther) of Eldorado, and Jeff (Sara) Duer of Waupun; ten grandchildren: Jennifer (Josh) Wessell, Gordon Duer III, Elizabeth (Colton) Duer, Stacey (Jason) Kayser, Melissa (Justin) Regner, Nathanial (Angela) Haug, Trevor (Anna) Haug, Jonathan Duer, Kimberly Duer, and Tristan Duer; six great-grandchildren: Zeke Wessell, Ryan Kayser, Bryce Kayser, Elyssa Kayser, Leon Hage, and Le Anna Duer; two brothers-in-law: Lawrence (Evelyn) Beekman of Randolph and Harold (Cheri) Beekman of Neshkoro; and nieces and nephews.
Gordon was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, on May 9, 2014; a daughter, Debra Kay; and two sisters: Eva Gerritson and Marion Allan.
Visitation:
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Thursday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Services:
Funeral services for Gordon Duer will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun with Rev. J.D. McCarty officiating.
Burial:
Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun where American Legion Post #210 of Waupun will perform military honors.
