Gertrude (De Jager) Mulder was born June 29, 1937, in Oostrum, Friesland, in the Netherlands, the daughter of Fred and Jennie (Terpstra) De Jager. Gert emigrated from the Netherlands when she was ten years old, first settling in Washington state and then to rural Waupun, Wisconsin. Gert graduated from high school and then married Harold Mulder on June 14, 1956, at Alto Christian Reformed Church. Gert enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom before working at the Christian Home, first in the kitchen and then in activities. Gert loved to read, sew clothes, bake, can fruits and vegetables, grow flowers, and enjoyed playing the organ at church. Gert carried herself with quiet dignity and, most importantly, loved well. She will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Gert was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church.
Gert is survived by five children: Linda (Don) Schultz, Dennis (Deb) Mulder, Lois Mulder, Laura (Tim) Wessels, and Mark (Dawn) Mulder; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; siblings: John (Arlene) De Jager, and Etta Schregardus.
Preceded in death by her husband Harold, a great -grandchild, Reed Schultz; and brothers: Dick De Jager, Eldon De Jager, Frank De Jager, and Lambert De Jager.
The family would like to thank Christian Home Assisted Living, SSM Waupun Memorial Hospital, and Rainbow Community Care for the great care given to Gert.
