Germaine Van Loo, 89, of Waupun, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Markesan Resident Home with family by his side.
Germaine Van Loo was born January 18, 1928 in Fond du Lac, the son of Garret and Jessie Westhuis Van Loo. On March 22, 1950 Germaine married Lucille Kastein in Alto. Following their marriage the couple farmed in the town of Trenton for several years and moved to Waupun in 1993. Germaine and Lucille were “caretakers” of Alto Cemetery for many years. Throughout his life, Germaine enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and deer hunting. Germaine was an active member of Alto Reformed Church.
Germaine is survived by his five children: Gerald “Rob” Van Loo of Waupun, Sue (Jerry) Medema of Waupun, Deb (Steve) Navis of Waupun, Colleen (Tom) Core of Waupun, and Kevin (Vickie) Van Loo of Waupun; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gladys Kastein of Waupun; and nieces and nephews.
Germaine was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, in 2013; an infant son; two grandchildren: Lindsay Van Loo and Eric Navis; two brothers: Delmer Van Loo and Arnold Van Loo; and three sisters: Katie Kastein, Alvina Bruins, and Aleita Bruins.
Friends and relatives of Germaine Van Loo may call on the family on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Funeral services for Germaine Van Loo will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Alto Reformed Church with Rev. Ted Medema and Rev. Kevin Van Wyk officiating.
Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery.
