Floyd Brandenburg, 84, of Waupun, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024 at his residence with family by his side.
Floyd was born May 5, 1940 in Beaver Dam, WI the son of Andrew and Mable Chapman Brandenburg. Floyd attended Beaver Dam schools, graduating in 1958. Following his studies, he proudly served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard, completing active duty at Fort Lewis, Washington for a year. On August 18, 1967, he married the love of his life, Karen Smits, in Waupun, where they would reside together for all their married lives, building a family and a lifetime of memories. Floyd dedicated 38 years of his career to National Rivet in Waupun, retiring in 2005.
Floyd was a devoted member of Edgewood Community Church in Waupun. His faith was an integral part of his life. Outside of work and church, Floyd enjoyed a variety of hobbies, particularly those that allowed him to connect with nature. He had a passion for working outdoors, finding joy in gardening, hunting, and fishing. Floyd also had a deep appreciation for music, often attending gospel concerts that resonated with his beliefs and spirit. However, nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family, whom he cherished fiercely.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Karen Brandenburg of 57 years; two children: Dean (Kristen) Brandenburg and Debra Powers (Fiance, Mike Glass); and three grandchildren: Grant Powers, Jaedlyn Giese, and Kendra Brandenburg, step grandchildren Kayla Reffke, Josh, Holly Gierach and Jenna TeWinkle Great Grandchildren Cole, Tegan, Kenneth and Lukas; and a niece and nephew.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Mable Brandenburg; his father and mother-in-law, Doyle and Dorothy Smits; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry (Lois) Smits.
His legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Funeral services for Floyd Brandenburg will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Edgewood Community Church in Waupun with Pastor Mike Giebink officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in the town of Trenton. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. American Legion Post 210 of Waupun will be providing military honors.
