Florence S. Niht

Florence Shirley Niht, age 93 formerly of Cambria, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at The Meadows in Fall River surrounded by family and dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 8th at 11:00 a.m. from Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Cambria with Rev. Roger Wahl officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in the church fellowship hall. Visitation will take place just prior to the service from 9:00AM-11:00AM. Florence was born in the town of Courtland, the son of Ferdinand and Hulda (Schmidt) Niht, on August 22, 1922 in the farmhouse her grandparents Albert and Louise Niht built. She lived on the Niht farm most of her whole life and was proud to have the farm achieve century status. Florence was a lifelong devoted member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Cambria where she was confirmed. She was a 1941 graduate of Cambria High School and cherished attending many class reunions. Florence enjoyed working on the family farm alongside her twin brother, Floyd. Tending her flowers and vegetable garden brought great bounty to share with friends and family. On the creative side, Florence handcrafted greeting cards that sported her signature dried pansies and shared in sewing dresses, curtains and quilts with her mother. Along with her brother, Florence enjoyed attending fairs, antiques shows and square dancing. In her younger years, she cared for an Aunt in Milwaukee and a friend in Beaver Dam. Florence is survived by her special nephew and niece, Randy Niht of Beaver Dam and Claudia (Tony) Busse of West Bend; cousins Cecelia Schimmel of Portage and Jerry and Alice Rahn of Horicon and many dear friends. Special appreciation to staff from The Meadows in Fall River who provided a wonderful, caring home for Florence these past months. The team efforts of Hillside Hospice were also greatly appreciated. Florence was preceded in death by her parents and a brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Darlene Niht. Her dear twin brother, Floyd, passed away on Dec. 7 2012. Memorials may be directed to Zion Ev.
