Elizabeth Van Zanen, 91, of Waupun, was received into the arms of her Savior Jesus on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living in Waupun where she resided.



Elizabeth was born September 30, 1920 in East Friesland, WI the daughter of John and Anna Dykema. She grew up on their farm as the second of seven children. On May 2, 1941 she married Robert Van Zanen in Grand Rapids, MI. They were blessed with four sons. The couple and their family resided in several locations during their lives including seven years in Randolph, WI and forty years in Bellflower CA. Robert died there in 1981. During her retirement years, Elizabeth enjoyed traveling to Israel, Australia, Thailand and Europe. Elizabeth moved to Waupun, WI in 1997. She was a lifelong member of the Christian Reformed Church, belonging to several congregations and one Lord Jesus.
Elizabeth is survived by three children, Roger (Naree) Van Zanen of Chesterfield, MO, Michael (Janet) Van Zanen of Ben Lomond, CA, and Steven (Christine) Van Zanen of Grand Rapids, MI; a daughter-in-law, Maria Van Zanen of Maple Valley, WA; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Henrietta Vander Werff of Waupun, Pearl (Gene) Schroeder of Sioux Falls, SD, Ann Smedema of Cambria, and Janice (Roger) Van Beek of South Holland, IL.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Van Zanen in 1981; a son, Dwight Van Zanen in 2012; a brother, Henry Dykema; and a sister, Gertrude Freeman.


Visitation:
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Sunday at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service.

Services:
Funeral services for Elizabeth Van Zanen will be held Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun with Rev. Craig Van Hill and Rev. Norman Haan officiating.

Burial:
Burial will follow at Randolph Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be directed to Randolph Christian School or The Bible League.
