Elizabeth Rathbun, 94, of Waupun, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Marvin’s Manor in Waupun.
Elizabeth was born July 26, 1920 in Waupun the daughter of Arthur and Alma Learned. She graduated from Waupun High School in 1937 and from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Madison in 1941. She also attended Wayne State University in Detroit. She worked as a staff nurse at Wisconsin General in Madison, and at Highland Park General in Michigan. She met Milton Rathbun in Highland Park, MI and they married in 1947. In 1952 they moved to Waupun where she worked as a private duty nurse, and later as an office nurse and retired in 1982. Following retirement she and Milton traveled extensively in the U.S. and overseas.
Elizabeth is survived by a step-son, Charles Rathbun of Nebraska; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Rathbun of Idaho; a son, Richard Rathbun of Madison; two daughters: Tori (Terry) Beske of Waupun and Lisa (David) Mischler of Waupun; five granddaughters: Kristen (Brian) Binyon, Tara (Jonathan) Meester, Kayla (Joshua) Gierach, Hailey Mischler, and Callie Mischler; a grandson, Darin (Libby) Beske; two great-grandsons, Benjamin and Jayce; a great-granddaughter, Abigail; sisters-in-law, Muriel Mercer and Marietta Rathbun; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton in 1996; her parents; a sister, Irene Christiansen; a niece, Kayla Christiansen; and brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.
