Edwin Zills, 90, of Fond du Lac, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Hospice Home of Hope.
Ed was born March 3, 1923 in the town of Oakfield, the son of Herman and Emma Klebs Zills. On May 4, 1946 he married Helen Denzin in Waupun. Following their marriage the couple farmed near Mayville, later moving to the Waupun/Oakfield area where he farmed and worked at Mercury Marine for over 20 years. He resided in Fond du Lac for the past 12 years. Ed was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupun. He was a very social person, making friends with the young and old. He enjoyed taking time to ride about and visit many friends and new acquaintances.
Ed is survived by a son, David Zills of Fairwater; a daughter, Darlene (Dan) Johnson of Fond du Lac; four grandchildren, Danielle Zills, Jeremy (Chris) Zills, Amanda Zills, and Michael Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Jessica Heeringa and Issac Zills; a special (adopted) granddaughter, Annie Maurice; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Wallendal of Fond du Lac.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; three sisters; and six brothers.
Visitation:
Friends and relatives of Edwin Zills may call on the family on Friday at the mausoleum from 9:30 until the time of service.
Services:
Funeral services for Edwin Zills will be held Friday, April 19, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Fond du Lac with Rev. David Pavesic officiating.
Entombment will follow.
