Edward Firlus, 80, of Waupun, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023 at home with family by his side.
Ed was born May 29, 1943 to Tony and Erma Sloniker Firlus in Wonewoc, WI. He graduated from Wonewoc High School in 1961. After high school he joined the United States Army National Guard and was stationed in Washington State during the Berlin Crisis. He soon met the love of his life Sandra Laack in Mauston, WI. On February 28, 1964 they were married in Mauston at the lutheran church in Mauston. Ed was a welder for 12 years before moving to Waupun to work for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, and retired after 27 years. Ed loved to deer and turkey hunt, camp on the weekends, and to just be outdoors. When he retired the couple became snow birds during the winter in Parker, Arizona.
Edward is survived by his wife, Sandra of 59 years; a daughter, Julie Weyer; a son, Jesse (spouse, Tracey) Firlus; five grandchildren; Debbie (spouse, Josh) McCartney, Becky (spouse, Paul) Dombrock, Baley Firlus, Collier Firlus, and Dillon Wichman; three great-grandchildren; Riley and Macie McGinnis, and Jayden McCartney; and a brother, Larry Firlus.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jacob Firlus; a sister, Patricia Zietlow.
Funeral services for Edward Firlus will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Union-Congregational Church in Waupun with Pastor Jacob Nault officiating. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Lunch will be served after the service.
In lieu of flowers donations can be directed to the family.
