Dorothy Ramsey

Dorothy Mae Ramsey, age 98, passed away January 2, 2025 at Barrett House in Markesan.

Dorothy was born April 18, 1926 in Neenah, WI the daughter of Theodore and Anna Derfus Otto. On February 9, 1946 Dorothy married Maurice “Mike” Ramsey at St. Brendan's Catholic Church in Brandon. Following their marriage the couple resided in Brandon most of their married lives. Dorothy was employed as a dental assistant in St. Cloud, WI, as a clerk at Power and Light in Brandon, later Koehler Quick Mart in Brandon, and then at her son’s bar, JC’s as a cleaner and bartender for 12 years. Dorothy loved to dance and have a good time. What Dorothy enjoyed most was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a long-time member of St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Brandon where she was a member of its Altar Society. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waupun. Dorothy was also a past den mother of Cub Scouts in Brandon.

Dorothy is survived by her sons and daughters: Kay Ramsey, Brent (Cindy) Ramsey, Anne Ramsey (Bud Skaar), Mark (Jill) Ramsey, and James (Janine) Ramsey; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Otto.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice “Mike” Ramsey in 1986; and a sister-in-law, Grace Otto.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waupun. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
